Accommodations: Vancouver downtown hotel
Cross Howe Sound by BC Ferry, to BC’s Sunshine Coast, where you’ll pick up your rental car. This is a delightful coastal region, the scene of television shows. Enjoy the great ocean views as you travel leisurely up the coast through Gibsons, Roberts Creek and Sechelt. Stop at any of numerous local artisans, as you make your way to scenic Pender Harbour. At Egmont, you’ll want to hike to Skookumchuck Narrows, where the incoming and outgoing tides create North America’s fastest tidal current, and waves so large they’re surfable. You may, alternatively, be able to take a boat tour through the rapids. End the day at Earl’s Cove.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in an idyllic marine setting before boarding your tour boat for your day trip up Jervis Inlet, to Princess Louisa Inlet and Chatterbox Falls. This has been called the “world’s most beautiful anchorage.” Along the way see the incredible coastal wildlife: sea life, shore animals and overhead birds. Your knowledgeable guides will bring the history and geography of the area to life. As you round the curve to Chatterbox Falls, look up and (depending on recent rains) see dozens of waterfalls cascading down all around you to the inlet. Spend a short time ashore, hiking the Chatterbox Falls area. After returning to your starting point, you’ll retrace your journey down the Sunshine coast to tonight’s stay in Gibsons.
