Day 1

Meet your fellow adventurers and tour leader at 6 pm at the joining hotel in downtown Mexico City. Be sure to have your insurance documents and passports available for presentation to your tour leader. After your briefing, you may want to go out together for dinner at one of the many renowned restaurants nearby.

Day 2

An early departure on public transport out of Mexico City takes us to visit the mighty ruins of Teotihuacan! It’s close by, only around 45 minutes by bus. We’ll be transported back in time by our local guide while he explains the myths, legends and designs of the magnificent buildings. Time is allocated to climb the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. We will return to Mexico City around midday for a free afternoon! Visit sites such as:
Angel of Independence
National Palace (to see the murals of Diego Riviera)
Palace of Beautiful Arts
Casa Azul (The house of Diego Riviera and Frida Kahlo)
An awesome option for tonight is to go and see the ‘Lucha Libre’/Mexican wrestling! A culturally hysterical spectacular!

Day 3

Departing the hotel early, we will head in taxis to one of the biggest bus terminals in Mexico, where we will ride in a first class bus to Oaxaca! The journey is approximately 7 hours. On board we have air con, toilets and movies (generally in Spanish). After checking in to our hotel, we will take an orientation walk around Oaxaca. We will take in some ‘foodie’ delights such as chocolate, cheese, grasshoppers, mole and Mezcal! We will finish our tour in the Zocalo (the Central Park), where you will have some free time to explore! We will meet up at 7pm (optional) for a Mexican feast and maybe pop to a local cantina afterwards!

Day 4

Today is a free day for you to enjoy everything that Oaxaca has to offer! Shop for intricate wooden, colourfully painted animals (alebrije), leather and other stunning handicrafts! Or go crazy for the food!
Please let your tour leader know if you would like to sign up for a special dinner tonight, a 9-course feast with options of pairing with wine and/or Mezcal. A true foodies delight!

Day 5

We will hit the road in our own private vehicle, heading first to the pre-Columbian archaeological site of Monte Alban, 20 minutes from our hotel. Enjoy the tranquility of this wonderful site, with views all the way back to Oaxaca. From there we will head to Hierve el Agua – a stunning petrified waterfall with views for miles. We’ll have the chance for a short hike and a swim, so don’t forget your swimwear and good, sturdy footwear.
After we will make our way down the hill, back onto one of the main roads to visit a Mezcal Distillery; of course, by this time you will need some lunch! Our final stop will be the magical town of Tule, home to the world’s biggest tree, a Montezuma Cypress, which sticks up and out an incredibly long way.

Day 6

An 8.30am departure from our hotel, we will be transferred to the airport for a short, one-hour flight to San Cristobal De Las Casas! We’ll reach our hotel in San Cristobal by about 1 pm. After check-in, we will wander this gorgeous town, surrounded by mountains, for our orientation. Tonight we will meet at 7pm (optional) to enjoy traditional tostadas made by a local family.

Day 7

We will depart around 9.15am (from the centre of town), for a unique visit to two Mayan Villages,
San Juan Chamula and Zincanantan. These villages are unique because, to this day, they still include many of the aspects of Mayan life. A truly different experience! You will have the afternoon free to enjoy San Cristobal De Las Casas, maybe for some last minute shopping in one of the many colourful markets! Remember that Ambar is very good quality and reasonably cheap from this part of Mexico.

Day 8

An 8.00am departure sees us leave the cooler temperatures of San Cristobal De Las Casas and head, by private transport, for the heat of the jungle. En-route to Palenque we will be stopping off at Agua Azul and Misol Ha, waterfalls that we will be able to enjoy a swim in! After a break in the waterfalls and lunch along the way, we will arrive to Palenque around 5pm.

Day 9

Today we have an early start! Coffee will be available and we’ll depart at 6.30 am for a jungle walk on the outskirts of Palenque, taking in the morning jungle noises including toucans and howler monkeys. We’ll also stop at the Forgotten Temple hidden amongst giant trees and roots that have been growing forever! From there we will enter the archaeological site of Palenque. Impressive structures and the fact that it is in the middle of the jungle is what makes Palenque, just so mystically impressive!
We will meet at 7.00pm (optional) to head into the jungle once again to eat at the famous ‘Don Muchos’ restaurant. Live salsa music, margaritas and tequilas are calling your name!

Day 10

A 7.00 am hotel departure and a short walk to the bus terminal has us boarding a first class bus to Merida. We will leave the state of Chiapas, travel for a few kilometres through the town of Emiliano Zapata in the state of Tabasco, then onto Campeche where we will get our first glimpse of the Caribbean Sea. Our expected arrival time into Merida will be around 4.00pm. Always warm and inviting, Merida is another city you are sure to be impressed with! Be sure to have your camera, some of the views along the way are worth a few photos for sure!
We will meet tonight at 7.00pm for some true Yucatecan delicacies, live Trova music and a Mayan cocktail!

Day 11

Today you have the option (pre-booking required) of visiting the impressive archaeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah or the cenotes of Santa Barbara, beautiful crystal clear sinkholes that are just lovely to swim in, in the hot weather that the Yucatan is famous for!

Day 12

We will make an early departure of 6 am, but there is a very good reason why! We aim to be in the gate at Chichen Itze early for some impressive photos of the Temple of Kukulkan, the Grand Ball Court and everything in between. This is, after all, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and we aim to beat the crowds! The landscape is desert-like so we will be sure to see some iguanas baking in the sun, as well. Afterwards we will take our private bus all the way to gorgeous Playa Del Carmen.
Arrival to Playa Del Carmen is approximately 3pm.

Day 13

Our trip ends today. We hope that you have had a fabulous time, and we have managed to exceed your expectations! We are constantly trying to improve ourselves, so please take a moment to fill in our evaluation form.
If you are flying out today, please refer to your tour leader for the best way to get to the airport. For those continuing onto Antigua, there are numerous activities to enjoy in and around Playa del Carmen: take a trip to Tulum, catch a boat to Cozumel, catch up on your some last minute shopping! Or just enjoy the lovely beach nearby. Please remember there will be a group meeting tonight at 6.00 pm here in the hotel.
