Summary

This tour combines the best of Vancouver Island with the best of the southern interior of British Columbia, the Okanagan. It is a tour of contrasts: the ocean, rugged mountains, rolling hills; beautiful gardens and alpine meadows; Pacific swells in which you can surf to a houseboat on the placid waters of the Shuswap. Explore the arts and crafts of Vancouver Island and sample the award-winning wines from some of the 130 Okanagan wineries. Soak in the hot springs, hike the high mountains or go for a trail ride. There is less driving on this trip than most West Adventure tours.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Meet your tour leader and fellow adventurers at the joining hotel to get your tour orientation. Then enjoy dinner at one of Vancouver’s many renowned restaurants.

Day 2: Enjoy the incredible scenery of the Gulf Islands as we cross to Vancouver Island, reaching Victoria about mid-day. You have the option to visit; the world-famous Butchart Gardens, a castle, a miniature world display, BC government headquarters or roam the harbour to get a feel for this city.

Day 3: Today we have an included excursion to Port Renfrew’s Botanical Beach with its unique geological and botanical tidal pools and to hike portions of the scenic Juan de Fuca coastal trail along the way.

Day 4: We travel up the Island to Parksville, then across to the Pacific coast, stopping at numerous sites along the way, including Duncan totem poles, the artsy community of Chemainus, Coombs Country Market, Little Qualicum Falls and Cathedral Grove giant forest, arriving in the Tofino area late in the afternoon.

Day 5: Today we’ll take an included whale-watching excursion that culminates in Hot Springs Cove. We may see a wide variety of sea life along the way. At Hot Springs Cove, we relax in the soothing hot mineral waters as ocean waves surge up to meet us. A true bucket list experience.

Day 6: There are many options to enjoy today in Tofino, including sea kayaking and canoeing, hiking coastal or forest trails, visiting galleries, surfing or stand up paddle boarding on Long Beach, or simply filling your camera with post-card perfect photos.

Day 7: We journey back across the Island to Parksville. This afternoon we’ll become spelunkers, enjoying the delights of the Horne Lake Caves, followed by some free time that could include relaxing on Rathtrevor Beach.

Day 8: We cross the ferry back to the British Columbia mainland, enjoying a tour of world famous Stanley Park on our arrival back in Vancouver.

Day 9: Leaving Vancouver, we spend most of today in Manning Park with a myriad of hiking options for all skill levels and stupendous high alpine scenery. Seasonally, the alpine meadows are ablaze with splendor.

Day 10: A short trip this morning takes us to Osoyoos, with several stops, including the enigmatic Spotted Lake. This is the north end of the Great Sonoran Desert. We relax on the beaches of gorgeous Lake Osoyoos or visit the Desert Centre, a winery or two, or the model train museum or get more active with a motorboat rental.

Day 11: We travel up the shores of a whole series of Okanagan Lakes with several winery visits, often named to entice curiosity. We may take a float down the Penticton canal, and we’ll end the day in Kelowna, the major city of the region.

Day 12: Today is a full day to explore Kelowna. Hike or cycle the famous Myra Canyon trestles, take a farm tour, or spend a day on the lake, searching for the Ogopogo, wake boarding or waterskiing. Or book a tour in a Lamborghini or McLaren.

Day 13: We leave the Okanagan this morning and cross into the Shuswap-Thompson River basin. Today we board the Remote Escape Houseboat for an afternoon and overnight on picturesque Shuswap Lake.

Day 14: After making our way back to the marina, we travel past more turquoise waters and up into the high plateau regions before arriving at a guest ranch. We’ll go for a trail ride in the afternoon then be treated to a final night dinner.

Day 15: We enjoy the great scenery of the Coquihalla highway as we make our way back to Vancouver, where our tour ends.

Our trip prices are based on two people sharing rooms. Single travelers will be paired up with others of the same gender for room assignments. Subject to availability, travelers may upgrade to single rooms by adding a single supplement to their tour. The single supplement for this trip is $1019CAD.
